After the tremendous success of the inaugural Festival in 2010, the Manchester Children’s Book Festival is returning with an ambitious programme of events for 2012. Once again, this brings a host of the best children’s authors to Manchester, providing children with a rare opportunity to meet their literary heroes and to discover exciting new ones.
Presenting many of the most inspirational authors writing for children today in a celebration of children’s books, the Festival takes place over 11 days with writers and artists delivering more than 40 events at 18 cultural venues across Manchester.
The Festival was established by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, who is also Creative Director of the Manchester Writing School at MMU. Carol Ann passionately advocates nurturing the imagination and talent of children – the writers of the future – and what better way of doing this than to give the children of the North of England a Festival to truly call their own. Authors already confirmed for 2012 include Cathy Cassidy, Philip Pullman, Michael Rosen and Jacqueline Wilson.
Providing a comprehensive guide to the 11-day programme of high-profile events, the brochure offers a wonderful marketing opportunity to any organisation looking for a refreshingly effective and creative way of reaching parents, teachers and families – a finely targeted demographic that is normally difficult to pinpoint with such accuracy.
Quite possibly the most effective way of communicating your message to engaged parents, teachers and children across the Northwest of England in 2012.
From February, around 50,000 copies of the brochure will be distributed via an extensive network of teachers in primary and secondary schools across Greater Manchester to pupils and their parents. Copies will also be available for free pick up at major cultural venues across the city including Museums, Galleries, Libraries and Theatres such as:
The Royal Exchange Theatre
Imperial War Museum North
Manchester Library Theatre company
The Portico Library
The John Rylands Library
People’s History Museum
Cornerhouse
Zion Arts Centre
Q HotelsAll of the above attract a large numbers of visitors. Their typical visitor profile tends to be discerning, culturally-aware, professionals sharing a passion for literature and an appreciation of arts and education, making each venue a perfect distribution point for the Festival programme and making the programme itself a perfect marketing vehicle for education-based advertisers.
Exceptional value The Festival Programme represents an extremely cost-effective way of reaching a vast audience of parents and families from the Northwest and much further afield. Conservative estimates of readership in the run up to the Festival predict figures easily in excess of 100,000 from an initial print run of 70,000 equating to a cost per thousand of less than £9 for a full page colour advertisement. Full advertising rates are detailed below.
Retention value The detail of the content of the programme will ensure that the programme is held onto and referred back to up to and throughout the Festival with readers using the programme as their festival handbook helping them to decide which author events they wish to attend.
Advertising space within this exclusive A5 programme is limited and therefore early booking is advised.
